Live Webcast Tuesday: Counting the Costs of Government Health Care
November 3, 2009, 8:30 PM EST | Share with Friends
Dear Bob,
Congressional Democrats are poised next week to go forward with a government takeover of America’s health care system. The impact of this 2,000 page bill — costing taxpayers well over a trillion dollars — will be felt by everyone, from those yet unborn to our honored seniors.
To help you understand just how far reaching this bill will be, FRC Action is hosting a free live webcast: “Government Takeover of Health Care: Counting the Costs” on Tuesday, November 3, at 8:30 p.m. EST. We’ve invited Members of Congress, financial analysts, physicians, and FRC policy experts to join us live at our Washington , D.C. headquarters to help us assess this bill as Congress prepares to vote Wednesday or Thursday.
Among those who will be joining me are:
Congressman Mike Pence (R-Ind.)
Congressman Charles Boustany (R-La.)
Douglas Johnson, National Right to Life
Karen Steward, The Polling Company
Tim Wildmon, American Family Association
Bryan Fischer, American Family Association
Richard Scott, Conservatives for Patients Rights
Tom McClusky, FRC Action
David Christensen, FRC
Dr. David Prentice, FRC
We’ll also answer your questions by email about health care live on air, and deliver to congressional leadership the petitions that you and over 130,000 other Americans have signed to keep abortion out of the health care overhaul. Please register today for this free event, and join us Tuesday evening. Please also call your Representative at 202-224-3121 and tell them to “oppose the Rule for debate if the pro-life Stupak-Pitts amendment is not allowed to be voted on.”

We Are Spoiled in the Good Ol USA
Reading the Idaho Press-Tribune today, Eric Muhr in For the Record, reports that – Of the world’s 17 leading nations, the United States tops the list for having the largest percentage of it’s population living in poverty.
I wonder if we don’t have our wants and appetites set too high in this country. I have been in the third world as I am sure many of you have. I never went as a tourist and always have stayed or lived with or among the natives. Out where they have none of the things we think we can’t live without, they have never had and never will. Do they miss them? No. Even many homeless people here live better than the general population in some places.
The first time I spent time in several nations of Asia I came home and looked at how we live, how spoiled we are, the waste, and I got mad. We don’t even appreciate the freedoms we have enjoyed in this great Republic we have and all we do is want, we become slaves of our wants. I think there is something in the Ten Commandments and other places in the Word of God about that but our government is telling us we can’t have them anymore. I bet you have a Bible laying around somewhere though if you look hard enough, if you don’t you can go to E-Sword and download an excellent program with lots of bibles and resources for free.
I hope this raise’s a few hackles, look around, read about the founding of this nation. A good book to start is “The Light and the Glory” by Peter Marshall and David Manuel.
Does Your Sheriff Keep The Oath?
Perhaps we should find out what our sheriff swore when he was sworn into office. And, is he keeping the oath? Watch and listen here as Sheriff Mack tells us about the responsibilities of the County Sheriff. I am trying to find the oath that Sheriff Chris Smith of Canyon County Idaho took at his swearing in. So far his office didn’t have a clue so I will keep searching.
I found that the sheriff in the Sun Valley area of Idaho violated his oath when he helped ICE agents with no warrant. You can read the story that Greg Faber has written about this and also has given a good run down on the power and responsibility of the sheriff. See it here. If this link should mysteriously come up missing please contact me and I will send you a pdf copy of the article.
Conservative vs Liberal – The Difference
I had to post this, don’t know who wrote it but he/she is very intuitive.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the differences explained any better….
If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one. If a liberal doesn’t like guns, then no one should have one.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a liberal is, he wants to ban all meat products for everyone.
If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy. A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly enjoys his life. If a liberal is homosexual, he loudly demands legislated respect.
If black or Hispanic men are conservative, they see himselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church. A non-believing liberal wants all churches to be silenced.
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or he may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his health care.
