On the other corner was an unusual pair of figures... a tall man in a turban and a female draped in a veil and huddled into a parka, her head bent down, trailing obediently behind him. As I approached that side of the street the turban let out a howling curse and let fly a wad of spit in my direction. That's how I know Islam arrived in Canada. And it was an unforgettable first impression."
